From Sea to Studio
Hello everyone, I'm back!
It's been a little quiet here. I missed my June blog! But for the best possible reason. After months of designing, making and working towards deadlines, I took a well-deserved holiday with my family and friends on a beautiful island resort off the coast of Malaysia.
Sometimes, we all need to press pause! <3
From the moment I arrived, something inside me simply relaxed. Everyday was filled with simple pleasures: swimming in the warm sea, snorkelling over colourful reefs, discovering marine life beneath the surface, sailing with the wind in my face, jumping into crystal-clear turquoise water, and ending the day with walks along soft white sand beaches. It was wonderfully uncomplicated! :D
What surprised me most was how naturally it brought me back to my childhood.
Growing up in Mauritius, the ocean was never a destination, it was simply home. The sea was part of everyday life, and this short holiday reminded me just how much I had missed that feeling of freedom. Being surrounded by endless shades of blue, listening to the rhythm of the waves and immersing myself in the underwater world rekindled a part of me that had been quietly waiting beneath the surface.
It reminded me that creativity doesn't only happen at the workbench. Sometimes it begins by slowing down, looking around and reconnecting with the world that inspires us.
Of course, before I could enjoy my holiday, there was one very important milestone to complete.
I'm delighted to share the two jewellery pieces I created for Milano Jewellery Week 2026, part of my latest collection, City in a Garden.
This collection has accompanied me for many months and, like all handcrafted work, it evolved along the way. The original sketches became starting points rather than fixed plans, allowing the materials to guide the final pieces. That's one of the joys of making jewellery by hand, each piece develops its own character through the process.
Inspired by Singapore's unique harmony between architecture and nature, City in a Garden explores the dialogue between geometric silver structures and the organic beauty found within dendritic agates. Their intricate natural patterns resemble miniature landscapes, reminding us that even within our carefully built cities, nature quietly finds a way to flourish.
Looking at these finished pieces now, I realise that they represent more than months of work. They carry everything that has inspired me along the way, Singapore's architectural landscape, my love of natural gemstones, and now perhaps, a little of the sea that will always feel like home.

Returning to the studio after this break feels different. I came home with sun-kissed skin, wonderful memories, a refreshed mind, and a renewed appreciation for the places that have shaped me, from the shores of Mauritius to the gardens of Singapore.
Thank you, as always, for following my journey. I'm excited for the months ahead and can't wait to share what comes next. :)
Until next time,
Stephanie
