December is a month that holds so much meaning for me. It’s not just about the holiday season, but also the birthday month of two of my four kids! Now in their 20s, one is immersed in college life, and the other has just finished his military service. We also celebrate my husband and I’s wedding anniversary this month, making December a time full of love, gratitude, and reflection.

December’s birthstone, turquoise, stands out for me this time of year. Known for its vibrant blue hues, turquoise is a symbol of protection, positivity, and good fortune. Its cool, calming tones remind me of clear skies and fresh starts—perfect for a time of both reflection and anticipation for the future.

These interchanging qualities make turquoise a perfect gemstone to represent not just their unique spirits but also the joy and diversity that December brings.

In Singapore, December is a month of vibrant festivities, where the holiday spirit is palpable. The streets light up with dazzling decorations, and the air is filled with the excitement of Christmas shopping, family gatherings, and seasonal events. Christmas lights sparkle across Orchard Road, creating a festive atmosphere that draws both locals and visitors into the magic of the season.

The weather, though warm, doesn’t dampen the festive cheer. Instead, it brings a laid-back, tropical vibe to our holiday celebrations. I love how family and friends come together for cozy dinners, enjoying a variety of festive foods—everything from roasted meats to sweet treats. Singapore’s multicultural environment also adds a unique flavour to the holiday season, with a beautiful blend of traditions that reflect the city’s diverse heritage.

For me, the true magic of December lies in these moments of connection—celebrating the blessings of the past year, sharing meals, laughter, and gratitude, and looking ahead to the new year with hope and joy.
