Shining Bright - A Journey of Strength, Love and Purpose
March is a time to celebrate the resilience, strength, and beauty of women. This month, I find myself reflecting on my journey—not just as a business owner, but as a woman who has worn many hats throughout her life: wife, mother, daughter, sister, and entrepreneur. Each role has shaped me in profound ways, teaching me lessons on balance, love, and purpose.
As a child growing up in beautiful Mauritius, I always had a passion for creating things with my hands. My mother, who sewed clothes for our family of seven girls, instilled in me a love for craftsmanship and design. It was during those early years that I first felt the pull of a creative life. I followed this passion into a career in garment design, where I learned the value of tailoring, fabric, and structure. But as life often does, it led me in unexpected directions.

When I moved to Singapore after marrying my husband, I found myself immersed in a new world—one filled with endless possibilities. Though I had honed my skills in garment design, there was something about jewellery that drew me in. I attended local workshops, experimented with new materials, and learned the basics of metalsmithing. Slowly, the spark that had always been within me grew brighter, leading me to make the bold decision to shift my focus from clothing to fine jewellery design.
It wasn’t an easy leap, but it was a natural one. Every piece I create today carries the lessons learned from my past. The discipline of garment design informs my approach to jewellery, where every piece is carefully crafted with intention, love, and attention to detail. I began Stephanie Wong Jewellery with the desire to create pieces that reflected the essence of the women who inspired me—women who balance multiple roles with grace, passion, and determination.
This March, as we celebrate Women’s Month, I invite you to reflect on your own journey. No matter where you are, or how far you've come, the path you take is unique to you. Whether you're a mother, a creative, a leader, or all of the above, your experiences shape the person you are becoming. Embrace the journey, and celebrate the beauty and strength you carry within.
